Senior Business Reporter
Dikgang Publishing Company t/a Mmegi would like to invite suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the above-mentioned position.

Main Purpose of the Job

To gather, research, analyse, and produce economic, financial and business news and features related to Botswana and the globe on a daily basis

Main Duties

To research, analyse and produce economic, financial and business news and features related to monetary, fiscal, macro-economic, corporate, labour, international trade, financial markets and consumer affairs
To build up a top-quality and well-maintained sourcebook comprising highly sought-after economic, financial, and business personalities and commentators to aid in the production of exclusive, well-researched content
To regularly identify, research, and produce both print and digital content related to topical economic, financial, and business issues
To coordinate and lead production of the Business Desk working in line with the strategy to produce premium content
To provide assistance to the Editor in all aspects related to the efficient functioning of the Business Desk and its optimal output
To provide guidance and leadership to junior reporters, interns and correspondents, including copy-cleaning/subbing, assignments, and mentoring

Requirements

A Diploma in Mass Communication/Journalism or similar degree with proven professional certification in financial, business and economic content
A minimum of ten years experience as a Business and Financial reporter, correspondent with reputable media houses
Extensive and intimate knowledge of Botswana’s economic affairs and international trends in fiscal and monetary policy, global markets, corporate issues
Ability to work under pressure
Experience in production via digital media and experience in working with digital products
