The Global Health Informatics Institute (GHII) is a non-profit organization working at the intersection of science, engineering and global health to address problems of global health importance through development of local solutions and capacity (https://www.ghii.org). GHII is inviting applications from suitably qualified, motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic individuals to fill the following position on 1-year renewable contract under the Oxygen Alliance project.

The Oxygen Alliance is a coalition started in 2021 and is dedicated to creating a resilient and sustainable ecosystem for maintenance and repair services of medical devices in low and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Position: Oxygen Alliance Technician

Job Purpose: The main role of the Oxygen Alliance Technician for the global health informatics institute is to create and manage content for the Oxygen Alliance

Key duties and responsibilities:

  1. Work with Content coordinator to generate and review the content  for the multimedia library
  2. Answer questions related to oxygen concentrator repair and maintenance
  3. Provide support to field teams doing repairs and collecting data in country
  4. Manage the Oxygen Alliance Facebook page
  5. Assists in facilitating and managing oxygen talk calls
  6. Create and edit maintenance videos for the Facebook page and You
  7. Any other duties

Qualifications, skills and experience: 

  1. At least a degree in Biomedical Engineering or any other relevant field
  2. A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a healthcare facility as a biomedical engineer.
  3. Excellent computer literacy skills
  4. Strong presentation, public speaking, and writing skills
  5. Goal-driven, organized, and efficient in their work
  6. Ideally a biomedical engineer
  7. Experience in other oxygen equipment will be an added advantage
  8. Comfortable being recorded for video content
