HEAD OF FINANCE AND OPERATIONS at Mary’s Meals June, 2018

Mary’s Meals is a fast-growing international charity, currently providing 1,230,171 hungry and impoverished children across four continents with a daily school meal. Mary’s Meals Zambia from its base in Chipata delivers school feeding to over 75,000 school children in the Eastern Province. Collaboration between the Mary’s Meals team in Zambia, the government, the schools and communities is essential to the success of the programme.

This role is based in Chipata, Eastern Province and is part of Mary’s Meals International Global Programmes team. The post holder will support the Country Director, with a ‘dotted line’ to the UK based Director of Finance and Director of IT & Operations, to provide effective and inspirational leadership of the Mary’s Meals finance and operations teams in Zambia as well as collaborating with colleagues in the UK programmes team, and finance and operations.

A hands-on and participative leader, coach and mentor who will lead and develop an internal team to support the following areas: Finance, logistics, procurement, transport, governance, ICT and engineering. Accountable for ensuring that all finance and operations functions operate to the highest standards of effectiveness. An emphasis of the role is to ensure robust systems, processes and controls are in place and adhered to diligently across the whole programme.

  • A minimum of a first Degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Accountancy, Logistics, supply chain management, business administration) as well as being ZICA qualified, or equivalent, and significant professional experience in the areas of accounting, operations management, supply chain management and procurement as well as membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) are essential.
  • You will be able to communicate well across all levels, have experience of managing and leadership, the skill to inspire confidence in those with whom contact will be made, be self-motivated, pro-active, flexible, a team player and you will identify with and have alignment with the aims and values of Mary’s Meals global movement.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate who has significant management experience but who can operate at all levels to get the job done.
