Trident College is located on a 113-hectare nature reserve in Solwezi, Zambia. The school opened its doors to the first pioneering group of pupils and parents in September 2013. In addition to serving the educational needs of the local copper mining community, the College, which is now home to 232 pupils, is rapidly becoming the boarding school of choice in Zambia and a firm option for parents and pupils throughout southern Africa.

Main Purpose of the Job

Trident College is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and enthusiastic teacher who will lead the Academic & Be-havioural support Department at Trident College.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Developing a Life Orientation (PHSE) program for pupils from years 7 to 13. This includes life skills, health & sex edu-cation, social & peer integration and career guidance.
  2. Leading the SEN activities on campus including the assessment of pupils who may have barriers to learning and ap-plying for examination concessions in accordance with the requirements of the Cambridge Examinations Syndicate.
  3. Performing the role of School Counsellor.

The ability to teach a range of general academic subjects up to Key Stage IV (IGCSE) will be a distinct advantage.

Trident College Solwezi forms part of the Trident Group schools which is made up of two prep schools and the College. Trident Schools are, in turn, operated by Educore Services, a leading provider of independent schooling in Zambia.

Qualifications and other Requirements

The successful candidate will be Senior Secondary School qualified, with majors in Psychology and Inclusive Education. They will have performed the same or similar role in a secondary school for a minimum of 5 years. Furthermore, they will embrace the opportunity to perform this role in the context of a residential boarding environment which will require com-mitment outside of normal working hours.

Commencement date: 1 January 2019
