BAKERY CRATE CONTROLLER
Reporting to the Bakery Sales Manager, you shall have the responsibility to coordinate and control the procedures and processes for safeguarding company assets including bread crates and ensuring practice of necessary hygiene and care.

Your principal responsibilities shall include the following:

•Monitor the quantities and quality of crates that are used for delivery and generate reports.
•Restrict entry of unauthorized persons on the floor at the crate return area.
•Ensure that all crates are returned on-site daily as per route count.
•Record all foreign and broken crates clearly on the Crate Checklist.
•Return all foreign and broken crates coming from Depots and bakeries that are not recorded on the crate slips.
•Drivers must confirm that everything has been signed before leaving this area.
•Demand accountability from drivers with a shortage of crates after delivery.
•Use the approved amendment process for crate register and reconciliation to avoid discrepancies.
•When the driver arrives with the truck at the crate returns area (Crate wash bay), the Crate Controller will record all relevant details on the ‘Crate Returns Register.
•Liaise with all the drivers to confirm the number and state of the crate upon return by the drivers before signing off.
•Ensure that crates are not used for any other purpose except for bread to avoid cross-contamination.
•Facilitate proper and thorough cleaning of crates as well as storage.
•Recommend the procurement of more crates to replace damaged ones periodically.
•Provide on-the-job training on how to handle and care for crates to both employees and customers.
•Conduct a daily crate count and ensure completion and reporting before 08H30.
•Provide daily crate total availability confirmations for the Bakery Group areas to ensure that operational planning takes place smoothly.
•Participate actively in the implementation of ISO and Kaizen programs in order to contribute to company compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental Policies.

 

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate should have a Diploma in Distribution Management, Logistics, and/or Accounting. Three (3) years post post-qualification experience in the FMCG and manufacturing industry. Knowledge of ISO standards and Computer literacy are essential, Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint
