DRIVER OPERATOR Full-time Job

Purpose of the Role

To drive and operate a Track Dozer in accordance with Debswana standards and legal requirements.

Key Job Responsibilities

Recommends cost saving initiatives for inclusion in sectional budget process
Carries out cleaning activities including patterns as directed from time to time
Carries out cleaning activities, bush clearing, grade set monitoring and helps evacuate stuck machinery as directed from time to time
Cleans around other equipment in the loading and dumping areas and removes spillage from haul roads
Conducts Risk Assessment before the commencement of any work as per laid down policies and procedures
Directs trucks where to tip at dumping areas and loading areas
Maintains correct floor level through use of applicable systems/manual grade set and construct safety berms as required
Operates machine to doze and dig in accordance with the existing operating policies and procedures, this includes pushing towers, water tank, pulling electrical towers, breaker skids, drill rods, water pipes, hooking cable to shovel teeth
Operates machine to rip, doze, dig, assists in conveyor installation and pushing into feeders in accordance with the existing operating policies and procedures
Performs visual checks on machinery/equipment in order to establish any defects, assessing specific requirements and reporting findings to the supervisor/dispatch as appropriate
Trams drill between sites as required in accordance with existing procedures
Trams machine between sites as required in accordance with existing policies and procedures
Guides fuel/water bowser into safe position for refueling/refilling
Positions machine into fuel bay with assistance of the Fuel Bay Attendant
Disembarks from machine to refresh as per the laid down policies and procedures
Records fuel quantity filled
Interacts with fleet management systems as per the policies and procedures
Consistently communicates with the Dispatch Foreman
Consistently communicates with the Dispatch Foreman, Shift Foreman and other crew
Maintains smooth communication between other operators and the work station to enhance efficiencies of operations
Performs tasks of a predominantly manual nature which includes but not limited to; cleaning of the cab, cleaning of the machine body as and when required
Adheres to all safety, health and environmental policies in area of responsibility taking cognisance of all legal requirements

Other Job Responsibilities

Education

O’ Levels or BGCSE or equivalent

Experience

2 years experience in a mining environment

Legal Certification/Professional Registration
Drivers License – Class B
Must have a valid competency certificate for D475 & D375 Track Dozers
